Pleasant, Mich. – A hurricane is preparing to rip through the Midwest. While not of the tropical storm variety, this hurricane comes in the form of 19-year-old Rosebush, Mich. resident and dirt racecar driver Andy Galgoci. Coming off a career-best third place finish in the UMP Modified season points at the Mt. Pleasant Speedway, Galgoci and his Hurricane Racing team made the decision to make the jump into the Super Late Model class full-time in 2012. “Last September (nationally known chassis builder) C.J. Rayburn invited us down south to go racing with the Rayburn house car,” Galgoci said. “With a heat race win and a third and fifth place finish in the features that weekend we ended up bringing the car home with us. Our new friendship with the Rayburn crew is going to give me a lot more opportunities in racing.” Starting his career at age 12 in the Mt. Pleasant Speedway Four Cylinder class, Galgoci claimed 26 overall wins in three seasons in the class before moving up to the UMP Modifieds in 2009 where he was named the Mt. Pleasant Speedway UMP Modified Rookie of the Year. And now that success is being put to the test again as Galgoci takes the next step to dirt racing’s premier division. While 2012 will be Galgoci’s first full season driving a Late Model he did receive some seat time last season that should give the teenager a boost this year as he travels across the Midwest in his Galgoci Oil Company / Dragon Race Fuels No. 13 Rayburn Race Cars Super Late Model. “My first night ever sitting in a Late Model was after we unloaded at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tenn.,” Galgoci said, “The tracks down south are a whole different animal. Different dirt and different racers make for a lot stiffer competition. We raced at Tazewell, Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky, and Brownstown Speedway in Indiana at the end of last year. Many well-known racers were at all three tracks and I feel that racing against them and being hooked up with the legendary C.J. Rayburn has made me a better driver.” Besides the obvious appearance difference from the Modified to Late Model, Galgoci said the average fan may not notice a big change, but to the driver there definitely is. “From a driver’s perspective the Late Models are a lot different from the Modifieds,” he said. “You have almost double the tire and a lot more aerodynamics. You will be able to plant more power to the track with will give you noticeably more speed. From a fans perspective the difference from the No. 13 Modified and the No. 13 Late Model hopefully won’t be much, but it’s going to take time to get used to driving it (Late Model).” Nicknamed after “Hurricane Andrew,” Galgoci’s team, which is led by his father and crew chief Joe Galgoci, will kickoff their 2012 rookie Late Model season on Saturday, March...

Hurricane prepares to hit Brownstown, Indiana
Mt. Rayburn race shop where we will get the car ready the week before plus we raced there last October and it’s a fun and fast track.”
Following his two races at Brownstown Speedway, Galgoci and Hurricane Racing will likely head back to their home state of Michigan.
“At this point in time we are just going to go with the flow and race where we want to,” Galgoci said. “Local tracks begin to open at the end of April and we will be at those along with traveling back to Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio throughout the year,” Galgoci said. “The AllStar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup will be on our schedule and there are also World of Outlaws Late Model and Lucas Oil Late Model series races coming to Michigan that we will try to go to also.”
Galgoci said he also hopes to be at his hometown Mt. Pleasant Speedway on its opening night of Friday, April 27, 2012 and then the next day should be taking part in the fourth annual “Cans from Race Fans” food drive at Ric’s Food Center in Mt. Pleasant from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as Galgoci continues to be a part of his community non-profit organization that works at ‘E-Racing Hunger 1 Lap at a Time.’
Having just turned 19 on Feb. 26 and preparing to run his first full season behind the wheel of a 650 horsepower Super Late Model, the future looks bright for Andy “the Hurricane” Galgoci.
“My goal right now is to just figure out how all this Late Model stuff works,” Galgoci said. “I want to figure out how I can push the car and get the feel for it so in the future I do not make rookie mistakes. It took close to three years to finally figure out how to make the Modified go, but I am always hoping for big things to happen. That’s a given.’
While Galgoci is the one circling the racetracks, he is first to give thanks and credit to those who have helped him go for his dream.
“I just want to thank everyone who has stuck behind me and helped take my racing career somewhere,” Galgoci said. “It’s a dream come true. I also want to thank everyone who is helping get the Late Model to go around the track this year. My family (father Joe, mother Charlotte, sisters Staci, Maggie and Faith, grandparents Jan and Larry Galgoci and Jan Lather plus many more family members) has been huge supporters along with C.J. Rayburn and Rayburn Racecars, Andy Stebbins Motorsports, Galgoci Oil Company, Lyden Oil Company, Lendy Siefker Builders, NORA, Y4 Motorsports Marketing, and Freddie’s Tavern. Every little bit helps. Pleasant, he has a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1999. Mr. Dickman has a huge passion for dirt track racing, which he received from his late grandfather Carl McCrumb, who raced the # Y4 at Mt. Pleasant Speedway in 1950s-1960s. He has been attending races at Mt. Pleasant since he was 8-years-old and after college he started the first website for Mt. Pleasant Speedway and has expanded his role to doing press releases and other media relations for the track. Jeremy currently works full-time as the News Editor at the Morning Sun newspaper in Mt. Pleasant, where he has been for 9 years. I decided to ask Jeremy 10 questions about his business. 1.) What is your company and what does the company do? My company is called “Y4 Motorsports Marketing.” The objective of the business is to market the racecar drivers around the state in any way possible from creation of driver resumes, websites, sponsorship opportunities, whatever the driver wants. 2.) When did you start the business? January 2012 3.) What made you go into business for yourself? Pleasant Speedway and has expanded his role to doing press releases and other media relations for the track. Jeremy currently works full-time as the News Editor at the Morning Sun newspaper in Mt.
